The lifespan of a quality cargo bike is significantly longer because it is better built and therefore wears out less quickly than budget models. On average, a quality model lasts 10-15 years, while cheaper variants often last only 5-7 years with the same use. Thus, quality pays off in total running costs, but also in daily comfort and therefore driving pleasure.
Innovative technologies make a clear difference, both in durability and performance under varying conditions. "At STOER Bikes, we deliberately choose belt drive," Thomas explains, because it provides comfort as well as reliability. "Our customers notice the difference, because their CargoX stays trouble-free for longer and is also virtually maintenance-free."
A belt drive lasts longer than a chain, and it also requires very little maintenance. In addition, a belt performs much better in rainy weather, which is a significant advantage in the Netherlands and remains fuse-worthy.
Regular maintenance remains crucial, even if you choose durable components and high-quality materials. Keep your cargo bike clean and in addition, check your parts regularly so that you detect wear early. Replace worn parts on time, and by doing so you extend the lifespan with ease for several years.
With electric cargo bikes, technology requires extra attention, especially when it comes to battery and electronic components. The frame and mechanical parts last equally long, but the battery needs to be replaced after 3-5 years.
Purchasing a quality cargo bike is a long-term investment, providing both security and lower maintenance costs. For daily use and certainly as a replacement for a car, a higher purchase price is therefore well justified.
At STOER Bikes we notice that customers understand this, because they consciously choose quality as well as durability. This is in line with our vision: a CargoX should not only be practical, but should also last for years without care. This way we offer riding pleasure with minimal impact on the environment, and therefore a future-proof mobility solution.
